The Unseen Climax Of Indian Film – Sholay – Sholay has been categorized as one of the greatest movie of all times – A movie that ran successfully for many years in theatres. It‘s over decades since Sholay was released in the year 1975 directed by Mr. Ramesh Sippy and produced by his father Mr. G. Sippy. The dialogues and characters have remained so popular till today that last year in 2014, it was released again but this time in a new format to theatres in 3D which received good number of viewers this time as well.
You might not be knowing that Sholay has an alternate version in it’s climax. Yes the Alternate version you read that right at the very first time. Let’s check out the story of that untold climax which was never released to the theatres.
The original climax of Sholay has a different ending where Thakur(Sanjeev Kumar) kills Gabbar(Amjad Khan) but those scenes including the killings of Thakur’s family were cut by the then censor board which had a belief that the movie will give a negative message to viewers. Though Mr. Ramesh Sippy tried hard to go along with the original climax but all in vain and had to reshoot the climax as per the instruction by the censor board where Police arrives to the scene just before the moment Thakur was about to kill Gabbar . This was the climax which was approved by the censor board and released for the viewers.
